We are Treating the Symptoms and Not the Problem

The News and Social Media have been teeming with comments about the March for Our Lives. While I believe these young people are really concerned about their safety, I don't think they really know what they are talking about. Guns, bullying, broken families, depression, drugs, poverty, peer pressure, video games. the internet, loneliness, phone addiction and a host of other problem are just a symptom of the problems facing our young people. Which of these problems would cause a person to think that it would be alright to go into a school and shoot a bunch of people is a mystery. What extreme emotion would make that seem OK? I believe that these are symptoms of what is really the root problem. If a person has a disease it will manifest itself in many ways. Pain, rashes, loss of weight, poor health and lack of mobility are symptoms of the disease. A physician will treat these symptoms. That will offer temporary relief. If however the doctor does not look deeper into the cause of the problem a cure can never be found. The patient will continue to decline until death will occur.
I believe that we are seeing the symptoms of a disease in our society. The problems listed above can not be solved by enacting more laws. Especially gun control. The highest gun crime areas are the ones with the strictest laws. More laws are obviously not the answer.
I do commend these "protesters" for at least caring, when so many of their peers do not or are not even aware of any problems. I do believe something that needs to be handled at the family level has become a giant media circus. The young spokespersons think they are making a difference, when they are just being used to further someones agenda. I wonder how such a giant rally was made possible on such short notice? Just the process of getting the proper permits, would take months. Then there is travel, hotels, security(Yes there were armed police there keeping these kids safe) food, clean-up and then getting them all back home. I think there must be some big time movers and shakers pulling the strings. These are the motives that need to be examined.
Let me also say that I dislike the Facebook memes I am seeing that portray these kids as Nazis and other undesirables. That is just insulting to all of us. They could be more respectful though. If a kid started talking to me using the language some of these have, I would just walk away and ignore them. I think most people would also...
After saying all of these things, I must admit that I think that there is only one answer to the problems that face all of us. We need to put the family back together. A child that is raised by only one parent, that has to work two jobs to provide for their family is starting off in trouble. Some have done a wonderful job raising their children. Others have not done so well. It seems that commitment is not something of value anymore. A child need two parents. Until that basic structure is repaired our kids will continue to struggle. The only answer I see is Jesus Christ. Following His teachings alone can heal our families. I have chosen to live my life according to the words in The Bible. I read part of it almost every day. Church is a big part of my life. My oldest friends were met there. We need to get our people back into church.
I wish I could say I have all the answers. I wish I could just snap my fingers and make everything better. It will take a lot more...
Thanks for reading this week. Please feel free to comment. I would enjoy civilized discussion. Many people will disagree with me. That ability to disagree is one of the things makes this country great.
Tomorrow is when we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter Sunday is arguably the most Holy time of the year. Give it a chance and find a nice church and visit there tomorrow. You might Like it!
Thanks Again...
